An unrestricted Construction Supervisor is responsible for directly supervising persons (including self) who are engaged in construction, reconstruction, demolition, alteration, repair, or removal involving any activity regulated by the Code for: buildings containing less than 35,000 cubic feet of enclosed space, one- and two-family dwellings or any accessory building thereto, irrespective of size, buildings used for farm purposes, and retaining walls less than 10 feet in height at all points along the wall as measured from the base of the footing to the top of the wall.

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in building construction or design in the field in which you wish to be licensed.
  • Provide documentation with either Tax forms or Letter of Attestation
  • List your Duties
  • Provide your notarized signature indictaing everything is true, you understand the bulletin, and that all taxes have been filed and paid.
  • Not have perviously passed an exam in the same license class or received a licesne in the same class. (Only Exceptions are an individual whose license has been expired more than  2 years or individuals ordered to re-examine folling an adjudicatory hearing.

The exam is given by Prometric.

You must be at least 18 years old and meet the pre-exam requirements.

Exams are $100.00 per exam. Once exam registration is processed you have 90 days to schedule an exam date. After 90 days your registration expires, and you forfeit all fees.

The exam is open-book, 75 questions with a 3 hour time limit. 

American Contractors does not currently offer a seminar to prepare for the Massachusetts Construction Supervisor Unrestricted but we do carry all the approved references to help individuals prepare for the exam. Please contact us with any questions.
